Start your first tutor session
Bring a specific question and the work you have tried. This walkthrough checks the equation 2x + 5 = 13, uses a hint, and asks for another practice problem.

1. Choose your subject
Let's start a real lesson. Open Tutor and choose Math in Study Studio. The subject keeps your session focused, so you and your tutor are working toward the same goal.
2. Choose Check and share your attempt
Here, we choose Check to review our working. That opens the chat. Now we type the equation, explain the step we've tried, and ask for a hint. You don't need a perfect attempt. Your reasoning gives the tutor somewhere useful to begin.
3. Read the tutor's feedback
Send the message and read the feedback as it arrives. Our tutor confirms the first step and points us toward the next operation. Take a moment to understand the hint before moving on.
4. Try the next step yourself
Now it's our turn. We divide both sides by two, check the result in the original equation, and ask for a similar problem. That's the habit to keep: try, check, and then practice again.

Choose a subject and goal
Section titled “Choose a subject and goal”- Open Tutor and find Study Studio.
- Select Math.
- Select Check to open a session for reviewing your working. The goal button starts the chat; you do not need to select Start afterward.
You can also enter a focused request in Study Studio and use Start. Use that route when you already know the question you want to ask.
Share your attempt
Section titled “Share your attempt”Type this in the chat and press Enter or use the send button:
For 2x + 5 = 13, I subtract 5 from both sides to get 2x = 8. Is my first step correct? Give me a hint for the next step.

You do not need a perfect attempt. Say what you tried and where you became unsure. That gives the tutor a useful starting point.
Read the feedback and try again
Section titled “Read the feedback and try again”Wait for the response to finish. In this example, the tutor confirms the subtraction and guides the next operation. Read the reasoning before replying.

Reply with I divide both sides by 2, so x = 4. Checking: 2 times 4 plus 5 equals 13. Give me one similar equation to try.

Your outcome should be a checked solution and a new question you can try independently. If a response stalls, wait briefly and check the error before sending the same question again.
